Janeen & Tony Wedding @ Greenville Country Club ~ mkPhoto ~ Delaware Wedding Photographer

From the Bride
How we met:

In October of 2012, Tony & Janeen both made plans to go to the University of Delaware’s homecoming game with their friends. During the walk to the stadium, Janeen & Tony’s group of friends bumped into each other and started chatting. After exchanging pleasantries, Tony asked Janeen if she went to UD, Janeen replied proudly with a “yes!” and that she is also currently attending UD for grad school. Conversely, Janeen asked Tony if he attended UD which he kindly replied, “no, but I did just start my graduate program for molecular biology here.” Janeen’s response, “wow, you must be really smart! Tony and Janeen continued to talk briefly and then each went their separate ways…

…. Later in the evening, Tony and his group of friends went to a local restaurant for dinner. Consequently, Janeen and her friend also arrived at the same restaurant that night. As Janeen walked upstairs, Tony and his friends invited her and her friend to join the group at their table. Again, Tony and Janeen struck up a conversation and after an hour of charming and delightful conversation, Janeen asked Tony what he did for work. Tony appropriately responded that he worked for a bank when Janeen gave him a puzzled look and asked, “and what does a bank need a molecular biologist for?”

Tony paused for several minutes, and finally responded, “I’m so sorry, I was just joking about the molecular biologist comment earlier in the day”. Janeen’s frank response, “you’re a jerk…anything else you need to be honest with me about?” Tony then proceeded to explain everything he ever did wrong since elementary school for the next several hours….and it was love ever after!

The Proposal

Tony had been promising to take Janeen to St. Michaels, Maryland for quite some time and finally on August 1, Tony fulfilled that promise. Janeen had always wanted to visit the charming town filled with small waterfront shops and restaurants. The couple arrived early that Friday morning and leisurely strolled around the town along the water. Little to Janeen’s knowledge, Tony had been walking around town all day with the ring in his pocket in search for a romantic spot to ask her to spend the rest of their lives together. Unfortunately, Tony could not locate that perfect spot.

Tony and Janeen returned to their bed and breakfast where they were staying to get ready for dinner that evening. As Janeen got ready, Tony paced the room trying to think of a creative and romantic proposal that Janeen would never forget. Still without a plan (and starting to get nervous), Tony got ready for dinner. As the couple was about to leave the room, Tony surprised Janeen by stating that there is one more thing he would like her to wear that evening – Tony got down on his knee and asked Janeen to marry him….as we all now know, she said yes!

Design Elements that we Absolutely Loved about our Wedding:

The ceremony space in the boxwood garden of the Greenville Country Club. It was absolutely gorgeous with the ivory flower petals down the aisle and beautiful pale pink, crème and white flowers in green pedestals flanking both sides of the steps and the climbing hydrangea vine on the wall of the sunroom of the club. I was lucky enough to have a brilliant and talented friend who is a graphic designer and specially crafted all of our wedding collateral for us including our own logo which was used on all the materials, as well as our save the date and our invitation package. We adored our small details including our delicious signature drinks (Jalapeno Margarita and Strawberry Mojito), vintage chalkboard signs, wedding guest frame with a caricature of me & Tony, the chocolate covered pretzels as our wedding favor and our gorgeous and delicious wedding cake!

Three favorite moments from the wedding day?

The First Look. Seeing Tony for the first time before the ceremony and how happy he was to marry me. I’ll always remember that moment as it makes me tingle from head to toe with sheer wedding bliss. Also, the Champagne toast with our wedding party at the carriage house. And finally, our first dance together with my veil blowing in the wind. We were laughing the entire time and those photos were some of my favorites from the entire day.
