From the Bride:
“RJ and I dated for 5 years before we were married. We love going to new and unique restaurants, going to a favorite date spots like Longwood Gardens and most importantly: traveling. We both love traveling so much that RJ decided to propose while on a vacation in Mexico! RJ went to Steven Singer to pick out the engagement ring three days before we left for Mexico but he never thought he would be leaving that day with the ring. He anxiously traveled with the beautiful engagement ring in his wallet.
As soon as we got up to our hotel room we both went out onto the balcony to take in the beautiful view of the beach. RJ offered to take my photo on his phone, which he did, and then said ‘Oh, on more thing’. He got down on one knee and asked me to be his wife!
Besides the normal stressors of planning a wedding, we both really enjoyed the entire process. Everything we did together- vendor visits, tastings and DIY projects.
It did not matter what the day brought, I was getting to marry my best friend! Normally, brides are constantly checking the weather the week leading up to their wedding but I knew that rain or shine our day was going to be perfect.
The Phoenixville Foundry was rustic, industrial and romantic all in one. As soon as RJ and I walked in the door we knew this was the place where we wanted to get married. Our day was full of unique elements that all had special meanings to us. We incorporated our favorite winery, Chaddsford Winery, as the wine for all of our guests. Our favorite date spot is Linvilla Orchards so we used apple crates from the orchard as a part of our decor.
For all of our special date nights we enjoyed going to Starr restaurants so we thought it would be perfect to have Steven Starr as our caterer! Some favorite parts of our food and drinks for the night was the hot apple cider before the ceremony, the autumn sangria, butternut squash raviolis and the mini autumn-inspired desserts that were passed as our guests dance the night away.
We wanted to make sure that our guests had a great time at our wedding so we provided them with great music by Slippery Band. And if you needed to take a quick break from dancing our guests could go and take some silly pictures in our photo-booth provided by Chariot. We wanted to add two more special details for our guests and these were things that we love to do one cold autumn nights- enjoying a fire pit and roasting s’mores!
Every detail of our wedding was thought out and created with love. RJ and I spent many weekends and long nights painting, sanding and gluing together projects. We can say that everything in our wedding was 100% DIY. Some of our favorite DIY elements were our cake stand made from tree pieces and our hand painted guest tree. We can’t wait to repurpose these items in our home!
The most memorable moment of the entire day was our first dance. We had spent three days a week for three months attending lessons at Society Hill Dance Academy. Our first song was ‘I choose you’ by Sara Barrellis which we danced the Foxtrot and ChaCha to. In every lesson we had we never perfectly ‘performed’ our dance but at the wedding we were on time, hit every step and turn! Taking lessons were a fun stress-free part of wedding planning and we recommend it to every couple!
One beautiful, tender detail to note:
“My Dad passed away 8 years ago and was not able to be with me for my wedding day, but with my seamstress I was able to have a photograph of him sewn into my dress so that he was actually with me the entire day.”
