When Mini Sessions head outdoors! ~ mkPhotography, Pennsylvania Family Photographer

Friday, December 27th, 2013

Our popular Mini Sessions are typically held inside the studio but sometimes the young ones are itching to get outside in the fresh air and stretch their legs! Here are a few photos that happened right outside of the studio.

We have yet to meet a little one who doesn’t love the classic red wagon! We also little ones who were SUPER THRILLED to see a real (and gigantic) backhoe just behind the studio that likely mimicked a toy version back at home! Little boys were in awe and in total little boy heaven with the yellow thing and the dirt and rocks.

MERRY CHRISTMAS! Holiday Mini Sessions, Part II ~ mkPhotography, Pennsylvania Family Photographer

Wednesday, December 25th, 2013

MERRY CHRISTMAS! Here is a second set from our Holiday Mini Sessions shoot to accompany yesterday’s BLOG POST. Our next Mini Sessions will be held in May 2014 for Mother’s Day! These short and sweet sessions are perfect for getting the portraits needed to design those cards, announcements, and keepsakes. Keep it on your radar, it’s a ton of fun at our studio and we love a good marathon photography day where we get to be with so many of you, your growing families, and your fabulous four legged furry friends!

From Mike, Jana, and the entire mkPhoto team: there’s no better gift than the Present and we wish you a magical day chocked full of memorable precious Present moments with your loved ones!

Alex wrote in her letter to Santa, “All I want for Christmas are my two front teeth!”

Of course Franklin and Teddy had to make an appearance! These two cuddle monsters are Jana’s beloved Yorkies.

Mike’s daughter Luciana snuggles up with Teddy

At first 5 year old Alex didn’t want to be in ANY photos! Not only did she warm up to the lens but she and Luciana took over the jobs of Art Director and Set Designer and, both being dancers, created this fun scene themselves!

Holiday Mini Sessions, Part I ~ mkPhotography, Pennsylvania Family Photographer

It’s that time of year! We hope your holiday cards and prints turned out beautiful! Here are some images from the Holiday Mini Sessions we held at the studio a little while ago for exactly this reason. Precious families and four legged friends!

Jana has a love-hate relationship with Pinterest (don’t we all?!) for inspiring the background bokeh (blurred lights) idea. Made for lively, festive images but also created a little havoc beforehand in engineering the set to accommodate this look and style. Luckily Mike was up to the task; we are extremely pleased with the warm + fuzzy results!

Andrea and Steven @Ocean City Yacht Club ~ mkPhotography, New Jersey Wedding Photographer

Wednesday, December 18th, 2013

This Washington, DC couple first met when they were both 17 years old on the beach in Ocean City, NJ, where Steven was a lifeguard. With her friend in tow, Andrea could not help but try to make conversation with Steve by asking him to take a picture of the pair. Andrea and Steve went on a couple dates, but nothing seemed to materialize and they both headed to college at separate universities that Autumn.

The two spoke sporadically over the next ten years, while each pursuing their own lives— until, August of 2010. That is when Andrea’s cousins stole her phone during a cousin’s night out and agreed to an official date with Steve. Although Steve deployed to Iraq less than a month after that first date, the two decided to stay together during the six-month separation. They got to know each other over daily emails and lengthy g-chat conversations.

After buying a house in Andrea’s favorite DC neighborhood of Capitol Hill, everyone expected the two to get engaged shortly. A planned trip back to Ocean City to visit both sets of family seemed like the obvious opportunity. A few days beforehand, Steve broke down to Andrea and told her of his plans to propose, but there was a problem with the ring, and it would not be ready in time. In Ocean City, Steve took Andrea to the beach where they met, under the guise of explaining how he would have proposed, had the ring been ready. Unbeknownst to Andrea, the ring was ready, and in Steve’s pocket. Her first words after the proposal was “is that real?” After being assured that it was, Andrea readily agreed to marry.

Andrea and Steve got married in the town where they met and got engaged. Although they were not blessed with the good weather they had for the two former events, the day was everything they both had hoped for. The rain was absolutely relentless and it poured ALL DAY on their wedding but beautiful Andrea’s disappointment could not be detected by the lens.

Andrea and Steve now live in Capitol Hill with both the Maid of Honor (Andrea’s sister) and the Best Man (Steve’s brother) where Andrea can be found most days planning how to recreate her wedding day for their one-year anniversary. Forecast: Sunny!

Marsha and Joel at Loch Nairn ~ mkPhotography, Pennsylvania Wedding Photographer

Wednesday, December 11th, 2013

Looking through these images it is absolutely undeniable the quiet, wonderful love between these two. Marsha and Joel met through friends when they were invited separately to dinner. They got along so well they decided on a solo date the following weekend …and the rest is history!

Marsha was divorced and Joel widowed; it was special to capture a wedding that was treated as if it were the first one. The only difference could’ve been that now they’re surrounded by lifelong, rooted friendships, children, grandchildren, all joining together in a celebration of their special bond and love for one another. The ceremony and reception were interlaced with such gravity, remarkable tenderness, and infectious mirth. Certainly one of the stand-out weddings for us this year!

Here are some of the details from this unforgettably classic wedding:
Cake: Desserts by Dana
Location: Loch Nairn
Flowers: Flowers by Yukie

Donna Evans - Dear Marsha -- Joel must love the "Girl" in you that is so radiant in these pictures. Please tell us when you get to Naples so we can celebrate the sweet tenderness evident between you two. Love and hugs, Donna
