Cristina and Andrew @VIE ~ mkPhotography, Philadelphia Wedding Photographer

From the Bride:
Andrew and I met in January of 2007. A mutual friend of ours was having an “after” New Years Eve party.

After sitting at a table with my girlfriends for a while, I locked eyes with this strikingly handsome guy that walked through the door. He had the most gorgeous, piercing blue eyes. We stared at each other for what felt like a lifetime.

My heart was beating a mile a minute and I just knew this was the man I was going to marry. He approached me with the sweetest, most genuine smile and started making conversation. It felt like we were old friends, catching up after not seeing each other for a while.

We talked and laughed all night about everything and anything and have been inseparable ever since. We truly are one another’s best friend, confidant and voice of reason. As one of my close friends puts it we, “are like peas in a pod.”

Andrew and I are big homebodies. We love to unwind on the couch after a long day of work and watch T.V. or listen to music…. (sometimes debate over music!) We are also avid foodies and love going out to dinner.

Family is also extremely important to us. We spend most of our free time with our loved ones, especially our 9 year-old son Austin and our dog Lucia.

Andrew stayed true to our life-motto and organized an intimate, romantic proposal at our home. I awoke on a sunny, summer morning to his ocean blue eyes staring at me from the side of the bed, waiting on one knee with a ring in his hand! I sprung up in bed… trying to do everything in my power to make sure I was awake (and not dreaming) as he whispered in my ear…”I love you more than anything in this world… will you be my wife?”

I screamed Yes, yes yes, jumped up and down on the bed like a maniac and proceeded to cry hysterically and call my parents who already knew about the entire event. We all went out to Silk City for brunch to celebrate.

I couldn’t have asked for a better engagement! It was perfection! To top it all off, later that month we toured Rome, the Amalfi Coast, Florence and Venice. I come from a large Italian family thus knew we would have a large Italian wedding. Andrew likes to say he’s “italian by association.”

We are both very classic people. We wanted our wedding to be timeless, elegant and simple, with a little bling! I really love the 20’s and 40’s as well as pin-up girls and anything vintage. In accordance with classic simplicity we introduced mostly neutral tones accented with subtle pink hues.

Our first dance was to Aqualung “Brighter than Sunshine.” My husband called a local college radio station when we first met and dedicated that song to me on the air. We danced to it in his kitchen at the time.

It’s hard to narrow our wedding down to one memorable moment. As the guys from Love Sick Inc. say, “the whole day is a blur of loveliness.” I totally believe that is true. However, I vividly remember the doors to the church opening and everyone except Andrew faded into the background. Our eyes locked and I just felt “grateful.” I’ll never forget that moment. It was so joyful and yet simultaneous so humbling.

A close second moment was dancing with my step-son, Austin, at our reception to “Beautiful Boy” by John Lennon. I told him I was going to dance with him to that very same song one day at his wedding.

Cescaphe Event Group is well known for their spectacular food display. Everything was amazing! Our entrees were Filet in a red wine demi-glaze, Chilean Sea Bass in a Miso glaze and Duck L’Orange. Our last dance was to “Don’t Stop Believin’ ” by Journey. It was a perfect way to end the perfect night.
