Kate and Ward’s Wedding – Please Touch Museum ~ mkPhotography, Philadelphia Wedding Photographer
From the Bride: “Ward and I met at work about 8 and a half years ago now! We didn’t start dating until about a year after that and lived together in philadelphia and now in new York city. He completely surprised me with the proposal at the Standard Hotel in NYC on a wintry night last January (2012). I opened the door to our hotel room overlooking the Hudson river with candles, rose petals and “will you marry me?” written on the window.
One of the things I loved most about our wedding was the unique venue, which i think showed our fun and playful personalities, but captured the simple elegance I was hoping for with the grand entrance hall. The cocktail hour was in the Carousel room there, complete with a working carousel (which many guests rode in their black tie attire!) – we tried to incorporate a bit of the Derby theme, since our wedding was the day of the Kentucky derby (may 4th). It worked great to have the carousel and we used horseshoes as place cards and mint juleps as our ‘signature drink’. Everyone was dancing the night away with our fabulous band – the Pete Saunders Band, who are NY based, but joined us in Philly to celebrate!”
