It’s FRIDAY! How about Mike’s idea of “HORSE POWER” for a change? :)

Friday, June 28th, 2013

Happy Friday my friends! We like to take Fridays off from posting the typical wedding, portrait, and mitzvah photography on the blog that we’ve been fortunate and proud to be doing and feature something more personal. And, for the past several weeks these Fridays have been dominated by Jana’s horses! Horses are great and all but today it is MY turn!

Recently I took my old KTM dirt bike for a quick spin in the sun:

Julie and David’s Wedding – Four Seasons, Philadelphia ~ mkPhotography, Philadelphia Wedding Photographer

Wednesday, June 26th, 2013

Julie, from Delaware, and David, from Toledo, Ohio, met in a Wharton legal studies class in college where they were both in the same debate group. Their first date was at David’s house where they played Rockband on XBox! As soon as Julie left, she went out to buy her own XBox and Rockband game to play on it. :D

They married in Philadelphia at the Four Seasons – Philadelphia last October.

Dylan’s Bar Mitzvah @ Meadowlands Country Club ~ mkPhotography, Pennsylvania Mitzvah Photographer

Monday, June 24th, 2013

Dylan celebrated his Bar Mitzvah at Meadowlands Country Club last month. It was a cool event from beginning to the very end. Dylan jumped on a trampoline for his entrance to the festivities! Lurial Visuals was there to capture it in motion and All Around Entertainment kept everyone on the dance floor. Huge thanks to Tina from Starry Nights for designing the event.
The night literally ended with a bang in an exciting fireworks display!

Happy Summer Solstice! “It’s all about Babe because he is Awesome!”

Friday, June 21st, 2013

Whew – this whole week – this whole SPRING flew by! HAPPY SUMMER! The solstice heralds the beginning of summer in the Northern Hemisphere and this year’s solstice fell on Friday, June 21 at 5:04 Universal time, which was 1:04 A.M. Eastern Daylight Time so HEY it’s OFFICIALLY SUMMER! Jana here and *I PROMISE* Fun Fridays will be about more than just horses going forward but I could not resist sneaking this one in today to lead us into an AWESOME weekend.

Our friend Margie didn’t want to be photographed because she wanted the spotlight to be on: BABE! “It’s all about Babe because he is AWESOME!” Babe even has a sign hanging on his stall that reads “AWESOME”. He really is beautiful so, well, no argument here! :)

On behalf of the mkPhoto team, celebrate this fresh new season and have a WONDERFUL summer weekend!

Amanda and Brian’s Wedding – Tendenza ~ mkPhotography, Pennsylvania Wedding Photographer

Wednesday, June 19th, 2013

Brian and Amanda met at freshmen orientation at Penn State in May 2003. Their families had breakfast at the same hotel and then their families got lost as they tried to find the building they were looking for. From there, Amanda and Brian spent the day together registering for classes and talking about their excitement to start at Penn State. They left that day never thinking their paths would cross again, but on the first day of college a few months later, they met again and realized that their dorms were next to each other. They became good friends and then started dating in January 2004. The rest is history!

Brian proposed to Amanda in Hawaii after the conclusion of one of Amanda’s business trips. They were staying for a few days to enjoy Hawaii and Brian brought the ring with him hoping to find a good time to propose during the trip. He thought he found the perfect time as they took a catamaran cruise at sunset. While on the boat, Brian found a great opportunity, just as the sun was setting, to propose. However, at the time Brian was about to propose, Amanda declared she was seasick and proceeded to get sick off the side of the boat! Brian put the ring back in his pocket and decided that he would not propose at that time.

The next morning, as Amanda was waking up, Brian opened the box in front of Amanda’s closed eyes and asked if she would marry him. She said yes and although it wasn’t on the sunset cruise, it was just as thoughtful!

Kate and Ward’s Wedding – Please Touch Museum ~ mkPhotography, Philadelphia Wedding Photographer

Monday, June 17th, 2013

From the Bride: “Ward and I met at work about 8 and a half years ago now! We didn’t start dating until about a year after that and lived together in philadelphia and now in new York city. He completely surprised me with the proposal at the Standard Hotel in NYC on a wintry night last January (2012). I opened the door to our hotel room overlooking the Hudson river with candles, rose petals and “will you marry me?” written on the window.

One of the things I loved most about our wedding was the unique venue, which i think showed our fun and playful personalities, but captured the simple elegance I was hoping for with the grand entrance hall. The cocktail hour was in the Carousel room there, complete with a working carousel (which many guests rode in their black tie attire!) – we tried to incorporate a bit of the Derby theme, since our wedding was the day of the Kentucky derby (may 4th). It worked great to have the carousel and we used horseshoes as place cards and mint juleps as our ‘signature drink’. Everyone was dancing the night away with our fabulous band – the Pete Saunders Band, who are NY based, but joined us in Philly to celebrate!”
